A family event with children and adults painting doghouses, leaving with more paint on them than the houses! Each of the 31 houses is individual and adorable-ranging from a 3-year olds’ fingerprinting to sports themes and really good artwork!

Volunteers are preparing to build the first of 100 dog houses for Rescued Unwanted Furry Friends Foundation a.k.a. RUFFF, a very ambitious goal. The dog houses  will be used by the inhabitants of the non-profit “no kill” animal sanctuary  R.U.F.F.F.House.

The public is invited to help assemble and paint the pre-cut wood structures on Saturday, April 21st from 9:00am to 2:00pm at CVS Pharmacy parking lot, 75 North Lake Havasu Ave. Building houses for homeless animals and a delicious bake sale brings our “big-hearted” community together for a much needed cause.

Volunteers pictured creating the houses are (left to right) Mervin Fried and Jon Mayberry, from Kingman and Ed Mann and Cathy McIntosh from Havasu.

Many “builders” are needed and children are also welcome to help paint the houses if they are accompanied by an adult.

The doggie in the coat is up for adoption :  This is “Boomer” – a sweet little  terrier mix who’s owner had to move across Country and couldn’t take him with her.  He’s good with cats & dogs and very shy and quiet, under 3 years old.

The pit mix is “Tundra” – Her owner passed away and she’s looking for a new family. She’s 6 years old and full of fun.  The white pit is “Delta” – best as an only pet and very devoted 2 1/2 years old.

The two guys are volunteers: Volunteers  Gary & Keith shown securing tarps on top of the cat houses!

They were with us for 3 years when a wonderful couple (who volunteer for us nearly every Sunday) fell in love with them and decided [...]]]> Ralphie and Patience came to RUFFF from Mohave County Animal Control after their owner died with the condition that they stay together or be put to sleep!

They were with us for 3 years when a wonderful couple (who volunteer for us nearly every Sunday) fell in love with them and decided to take them home to their older dog, Speedy, and their cat!  The family has adjusted quite well and after only a few mishaps (like Ralphie falling in the swimming pool at 3a.m. and finding his way through the gate) everyone is happy.  They are pictured here with their new Daddy in the kitchen!

This was an especially happy adoption as it’s hard to place a mischievous 12 year old (Ralphie) and a 6 year old  wild Indian (Patience, so named because she has NONE!).

Congratulations to Ralphie and Patience and their new parents and brother, Connie, Keith and Speedy!
